DellaShiellCWI recently nominated Della Shiell RSVP Volunteer of the Year for the Foothills Clinic through the Salute to Senior Service Program sponsored by the Home Instead Senior Care Network. One winner from each State is selected by popular vote, and Home Instead donates $500 to each of the State winner’s designated non-profit organization and a national winner receives $5,000 donated to their organization of choice.

“Della enjoys volunteering because she likes the involvement with the people she works with and feels like she is making a difference at her age,” says Jane Havens, Division Director for Clinical Services. “Della impacts our services on many levels including maintaining patient records, mailings and providing front line informational knowledge to the public. She truly deserves this recognition.”

Della has volunteered at CWI for 7 years (20 hours a month), and for the past 12 years, she has served on the organizations Board of Directors. “I am proud to serve on the CWI Board of Directors and to have been a part of their 50th Anniversary year,” says Della.

In addition, she has been recognized at the Glens Falls YMCA as Volunteer of the Year and CWI‘s RSVP Volunteer of the Year for Most Hours (2,800 hours). For the past 6 years, Della has also volunteered at Glens Falls Hospital logging over 7,000 hours of volunteerism within the first 5 years! Della has also volunteered for Warren County Tourism, Caritas, Prospect School, Double H Hole in the Woods Camp, RSVP of Warren and Washington Counties and ADK. She also knits afghans for the Moreau Community Center to be given to the South Glens Falls High School students participating in the Annual Marathon Dance and crochets blankets for the Snuggery and Pediatric departments at Glens Falls Hospital. “The highlight of each day is knowing I have given a smile to a patient, a hug to a needy friend or a helping hand to an office worker,” says Della. “I have also made many good friends and met many wonderful people along the way.”

Thank you Della for all you do in our community!
